Updated again. She needed a refresher.

Reiha is known for her unshakable spirit, her slightly cynical remarks, her preference for fighting alone and keeping to herself, her addiction to manga magazines (she often thinks of people and situations in manga terms) and her unusually wise demeanor.

She was a reluctant entry into SDL--she discovered that someone had entered her name into the Samurai Dueler's League without her knowledge after an overenthusiastic dueler attempted to attack her.

After grudgingly deciding to leave her name on the list, claiming she "didn't want to go to the trouble" of bothering to take her name off it, Reiha now has to deal with determined warriors who want to challenge her. Unfortunately, she is not interested at all in attempting to make a name for herself in SDL.

She tends to ignore people she doesn't want to fight by either not listening or (if she really doesn't care about fighting them) by cracking open one of her manga magazines and reading them right in front of said challenger. However, she's curious to find out who entered her name in the SDL in the first place...it would mean that someone knows that she's alive.


Basic Information:

Name: Fujiwara no Reiha.

Age: Nineteen--or so she claims. She really can't remember when she was born, and is terrible at math.

Gender: Female. However, she has been mistaken for a man on several occasions. (That's something she's not happy about.)

Ethnicity: Half Okinawan, half Japanese. Her mother was a whore from the red-light district, her father a criminal from Ryuukyu.

Team: None. She will always fight alone.

Weapon: Shirasaya--it's this kind of sword [link] . Looks like a regular wooden sword, but is actually a katana. It is named "Urchin". Reiha believes that in the sword there is a soul, so she talks to Urchin and treats it like a person.

Strengths: High level of endurance. Incredible pain tolerance--she can take a lot of damage and still be on her feet. Her calm nature keeps her from letting anger or panic control her in a fight. Her perceptiveness and experience comes in handy during battles, and her practically unshakable attitude prevents any unpredictable opponents from gaining the upper hand. She's also incredibly stubborn, consistantly refusing to back down once she enters a fight. She'll either finish it or die honorably.

Weaknesses: Not as fast as some of her peers, and she's not ridiculously powerful strength-wise.

Notes on Fighting Style: Rarely pulls her katana out of its sheath, as she can usually school her opponents with Urchin in it. (ie, she wields Urchin fully sheathed like a wooden sword.) Only in dire circumstances does she unsheath Urchin.

Random Quirks: Collects and reads manga magazines--her favorite manga at the moment is "Ronin Edge Fever", an adventure-style story with some elements of BL. She has never missed an issue of any of the magazines she reads. Can eat--and drink--a lot. Her alcohol tolerance is very high. She rarely uses underhand tactics to fight, but she isn't above knocking opponents off-guard by shoving a yaoi manga in their face. That's usually only done when she's in no mood to fight, however.

Interactions: Reiha's a drifter, a ronin in the truest sense of the word. In other words, she's dirt poor. She might be seen one day hanging out in the doorway of a resturant, or on the doorstep of an SDL team's stronghold, but she never stays for long. She chooses to ally herself with no lord or team, instead wandering around and doing odd jobs to get by. This has led her to be on friendly terms with most of the inhabitants of whatever village she visits.

She's been known to hang around the Kagema-dan, the various shops of the MU*Directive, and the Sweet Camilla Cafe.

The only place where she seems to stay at is a small Zen temple run by an old monk named Takuan. Apparently, Takuan has known Reiha ever since she was a child. Takuan's words of advice are the only ones Reiha will follow.
